“...the Spree draws the Müggelsee westward like a wide crystal mirror tied to its thin blue ribbon…”
Theodor Fontane, Travels through the Mark of Brandenburg

The entire area around the Müggelsee and the Müggelberge are called Berlin’s “green lung”. People come here to enjoy the fresh air and kilometers of pristine nature and waterways. Our Hotel Müggelsee Berlin is situated in the middle of this vast greenbelt recreational area. From the hotel, you can explore the woods and waterways of the Müggelsee Nature Reserve – on foot, by boat or bicycle!
- Take a hike to the Müggelturm look-out point! In good weather, you can see as far as 50 km across the Mark of Brandenburg.
- Visit the legendary Teufelssee (Devil’s Lake). Signs posted along a nature trail will direct you through the moors and swampland.
- Our hotel is directly located on the European Cycle Trail R1.
- From our lakeside dock, you can take a boat, or join an organized tour by the “Stern und Kreisschifffahrt” boat company to take you along the beautiful waterways in the Müggelsee region and even to downtown Berlin.
The Müggelsee lake region stretches over 7.4 square kilometers and was formed during the Pleistocene epoch.
Fontane writes:
“... Everything in miniature, but nothing is forgotten. A mountain massif, an extended ridge, foothills, canyons, rolling hills and peaked mountains – it all lies at the gates of Berlin like a relief map...”
